Medicine and Science Reporting Fellow, Dallas Morning News, Dallas, TX
(June-September, 2022)

In partnership with the University of Georgia Health and Medical Journalism program, I was a fellow at Dallas Morning News for the summer of 2022. There, I wrote and reported on health stories, pitched to an editor, covered events, networked with other young journalists, and learned the ins and outs of working in a newsroom.

In this role, I write and create content for the University of Georgia Newspaper Columns that publishes weekly. I write regular sections in “Newsmakers,” “Weekly Reader,” and “Campus Close-Up,” while also covering university awards and events. I copy-edit all copy published in the paper and regularly work with InDesign, Photoshop and WordPress.

In my final undergraduate semester, I worked with the communications office of the Odum School to write and create content for the school’s website and social media. I conducted interviews with faculty and students, shared Odum news, and launched the Instagram student showcase series.

I worked as a staff writer for the student publication Georgia Political Review, writing for the online and magazine publication. I wrote about my home state of Wisconsin and current environmental and political issues in our nation.
